3 killed, 8 wounded in Chicago shootings during 3-hours on Sunday

At least 11 people were shot, three of them fatally, over a bloody three hours early Sunday morning in Chicago.

Six of those shot were people gathered on a block in the area of West Woodlawn at about 1:10am. The Chicago Police say one of the victims, a 39-year-old male, was taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Outside the hospital, a woman screamed ‘He didn’t make it! That’s bogus as hell. They won’t let me go and see my son again,’ according to The Chicago-Sun Times.

The other five people shot on the block in Woodlawn included a 24-year-old man who was shot in his leg, a 21-year-old man who was grazed in the head by a bullet, a 24-year-old woman who was shot in her arm, a 21-year-old man who shot in his leg and a 19-year-old man who was shot in the back, the Sun-Times reports.

No one is in custody from that shooting, according to ABC7 Chicago.  Police on the block found parked cars also riddled with bullet holes.

The second fatal shooting happened within minutes of the first.

At 1:15am a 24-year-old man was sitting in his vehicle on Chicago’s South Side when someone walked up and shot him in the stomach. He tried in vain to drive himself to the hospital, but ended up crashing into a parked car. 

He was also taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he died.

The third fatal shooting happened at 3:20am in the Englewood neighborhood. A 24-year-old man was outside when someone in a car driving by shot him multiple times. 

He died at the University of Chicago Medical Center, which had an extremely busy night.

The Medical Examiner’s office has not released the names of the deceased as of yet.  

In other shootings during those horrific three hours in Chicago, was a 24-year-old woman who was trying to break up a fight between a relative and someone they did not know at about 3:15am.

The unidentified person took out a gun and shot her in the face and stomach. She was taken to the University of Illinois Hospital. She was stabilized at the hospital.

A 25-year-old was shot in the leg in the Roseland neighborhood at 3am and was treated at Roseland Hospital. Police said he would not provide details as to how he was shot, according to the Sun-Times.

And the very first report of a shooting on Sunday, left a man in critical.

The 32-year-old man was in the West Garfield Park neighborhood at about 1am, when two people got out of a vehicle and shot him, according to police. Someone he knew drove him to West Suburban Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition.  

As of now, there are no reports of any arrests related to any of Sunday’s shootings. 

And all of this was just three hours on Sunday. Saturday was not much better- three people were also killed, and seven were wounded in shootings around the windy city.
