$370 ‘smart’ yoga pants buzz your muscles to tell you exactly what movements you should be making

A pair of ‘smart’ pants may make yoga instructors obsolete.

A Manhattan-based startup Wearable X have invented a pair of yoga pants that use Bluetooth and an iOS app to help users with their yoga practice.

The Nadi X pants give vibrational feedback to help remind wearers what muscles to focus on while practicing yoga.

They have five woven-in accelerometers and motorized vibrating panels located at the hips, knees and ankles.

The pants are hand-washable and are powered by a removable battery, called the ‘pulse’ that lasts about 90 minutes per charge.

The pulse clips in behind the wearer’s left knee, and the company says it does not restrict any poses.

The Nadi X iOS app leads users through a session with a library of yoga poses, visuals and an auditory coach.

The accelerometers in the pants can determine which pose the user is in, and then it can respond by activating the vibrating panels to remind them which muscles they should concentrate on.

The app can also track a user’s progress, and offers suggestions for poses and improvements.

There is also an option to adjust the intensity of the vibrations.

Wearable X has launched a Kickstarter campaign for the the Nadi X pants.

For $229, a backer will receive a pair of the pants along with a year-long subscription to the app, a $370 value.

They will be delivered December 2018, and 238 out of 250 spots have been taken.

Once the first option fills up, a backer can pay $249 for the pants and a year-long subscription to be delivered in April 2019.

Many studies have found that research has found that yoga has multiple health benefits.

Yoga benefits the central nervous system, strengthens immunity and gives people a sense of focus, new research reveals.

Practicing the ancient spiritual exercise reduces anxiety and depression, and boosts mindfulness, a study found.

It also increases protein and hormone levels that are associated with improved resilience to stress, the research adds.

The relaxation techniques also lower levels of substances linked to inflammation, which could improve the health of the central nervous and immune systems.

WHAT IS HATHA YOGA?

Hatha yoga is the most commonly practiced form of the exercise.

Poses are generally gentle and slow moving, with positions being held for a prolonged time.

This makes it suitable for beginners.

It aims to relieve tension and improve posture.

Hatha yoga is often used to calm the mind before meditation.

Common poses include the cobra – arching the back like a snake.
