A former Sunrise producer reveals what really happened when he Justin Bieber had a meltdown

Canadian pop star Justin Bieber made headlines back in 2010, for reportedly going off at Sunrise staff ahead of a performance on the Australian breakfast show.

And now former Sunrise producer, Jay Cagatay, revealed what really happened that day, saying Justin, 24, did indeed have a meltdown.

Talking on the podcast TV Blackbox Jay confirmed that Justin, then aged just 16, told a man who was trying to put a microphone on him: ‘Don’t ever f**king touch me again!’

Jay explained that Justin’s scheduled performance down at Sydney’s Circular Quay was cancelled as so many ‘tweens and teens’ went down it became a safety issue, so Justin had to perform at the studio at Martin Place.

‘He may have been a little stressed getting the last minute change,’ Jay said.

‘Just before he was about to perform, Nick our floor manager, went to put a mic on him,’ Jay said.

Claims: 'Nick, he didn't even say anything to Justin himself, he said, "hang on a second mate," went to put him on and Justin yelled, "don't ever f**king touch me again"

Ten producer Rob McKnight then called the Baby singer an ‘arrogant little s**t.’

Jay said that it was particularly awkward on set as all the staffers heard as it was so quiet in the studio.

Jay said that after the incident and the reports at the time, Justin denied the story in a tweet.

The tweet read: ‘Family time with my mom couldn’t come at a better time… I was raised to respect others and not gossip…nor answer gossip with anger.’

‘I know my friends family and fans know the person I am. Hearing adults spread lies and rumours is part of the job I guess.’

‘But all I have to say is… kill em with kindness.’

Jay said that Sunrise co-host David ‘Kochie’ Koch can back up his claim and told listeners: ‘It’s Justin Bieber’s word against mine. Make your mind up on who to believe.’

As reported back in 2010, Kochie spoke to Mix FM about the incident and said Justin needed ‘a slap.’

‘We had him on and he was a thoroughly nice bloke… really decent guy,’ Kochie told Mix FM.

‘Our floor manager was directing him to where he was about to perform and he turned around to (the floor manager) Nick and said: “Don’t ever f**king touch me again.”

‘And then [Bieber’s] sound guy… said “don’t take offence mate he tells us that all the time.”

According to The Daily Telegraph at the time, seven other employees supported his statement.

Justin meanwhile, has performed on Sunrise again after the incident and last appeared on the show in 2015.
