AFLW player Moana Hope opens up about her five-kilo weight loss

She’s AFLW player who is competing in the latest season of Australian Survivor.

And speaking to the Herald Sun on Thursday, women’s AFL player Moana Hope candidly spoke about her five-kilo weight loss during her appearance on the hit show.

‘I was quite literally watching myself get smaller and smaller going, OK, I might be in a bit of trouble when I get out,’ the 30-year-old revealed.

‘Especially with football, I had just signed with North Melbourne. I was super light, I think I lost five kilos in one week,’ she added.   

Moana explained that her strategy for the show was to be herself and make friends with the other contestants, particularly with a strong hunk like rugby player Mat Rogers, 42, to protect her from her fear of insects.

‘Personally I’m scared of spiders, snakes and sharks. I’m scared of the dark. I’m quite petrified. So if I came across any of those things I could get it sorted for me,’ she said.

Last month while speaking to BW Magazine, Moana confessed that her impoverished upbringing would assist in coping with the harsh conditions on the show. 

‘When I was growing up there were times when I slept on the floor and we couldn’t afford to eat and we didn’t have money for new clothes,’ she said.

‘That’s not out of my comfort zone.’

The new season of Australian Survivor, subtitled Champions V Contenders, includes celebrity contestants taking on non-celebrities.

The champions include former Miss Universe Australia Monika Radulovic and The Biggest Loser’s Steve ‘Commando’ Willis.

The contestants will battle it out against the elements in Savusavu, Fiji for a $500,000 grand prize.
