The least lucrative on the list was car-sharing service Getaround, which produces an average profit of around £75 per month.

A spokesman for Earnest stated: ‘We looked at a span of data accounting for just over two years, and for each worker, we analyzed a pay period of between one and 27 months.

‘Airbnb hosts make nearly three times as much as other workers.

‘Of course, on all of these platforms, there is a wide range of earners. Several Airbnb hosts in our records, for instance, made over $10,000 (£7,600) per month, while others made less than $200 (£150).’

The resulting average, however, is still an impressive number for those hoping to monetize spare space in their homes.
