Aldi ‘calls the POLICE on its own customers’ over parking

Aldi customers have been left furious after getting parking fines while shopping.

Some claim staff at the shop in Gympie, Queensland called the police on them without warning.

Many said they knew they were parking on yellow lines but were left with no choice because the car park was full.

Tony Jakeman received a $50 fine for illegal parking in the mail and told The Gympie Times: ‘That was the first we heard of it.’

Several shoppers said they have often struggled to get a space since the store expanded into the car park. 

My Jakeman said: ‘It’s a town planning issue – they increased the size of the shop and took some of the car parking spaces.’

He added: ‘It’s a brilliant shop, but this is an unmitigated disaster.’ 

One pensioner said he was fined for parking on yellow lines but had no choice because all the disabled bays were taken.

Shopper Amber Walkerden said she was forced to go to Woolworths because there were no spaces to park.

Other shoppers supported the fines. One said: ‘They know they’re parking illegally. Name them and shame them.’

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Aldi for comment.
