Amber Alert issued for two-year-old Bronx girl who was ‘abducted by her father after he got into a dispute with the child’s guardian grandmother’

A New York State Amber Alert has been issued for a two-year-old autistic girl who police say was abducted by her father.
Seniya Benitez was last seen with her father, 21-year-old Christian Benitez, around 7.30pm on Tuesday at 2155 Gleason Ave in The Bronx.
That’s where Seniya resides with her grandmother, who has legal custody of the toddler. The identity of her mother is currently unknown.
The New York Police Department said Christian got into an argument with Seniya’s grandmother before he kidnapped the child and fled the neighborhood. He is not legally permitted to have unsupervised contact with her.

Seniya is described as Hispanic, 3 feet tall and 35lbs, with black hair and brown eyes.
The child is autistic and non-verbal, the public alert states, and was last seen wearing a blue jacket, pajamas and no shoes.
Her father is approximately 5’5″ and weighs 160lbs, and was last seen wearing a black hoodie, dark jeans and black tennis shoes.
Christian was last spotted near the 6 train at Castle Hill Avenue, though it is unclear where he was traveling to.

Police said the child’s father does not have a violent criminal history.
It’s unclear why Christian is not permitted to see his daughter without supervision.
The Amber Alert further states: ‘The child was taken under circumstances that lead police to believe that they are in imminent danger of serious physical injury and/or death.
‘Anyone with any information on this abduction is asked to call the New York City Police Department at (866)N Y S-AMBER or dial 911 to provide information on a report or sighting.’
