American Idol’s Yoji Asano deported from US after rape conviction

American Idol contestant Yoji Asano has been deported from the United States after he was convicted of attempted rape.

The singer was banished from the US to his home country of Japan back in December according to a Friday report from Radar Online.

Asano is best known for his terrible audition on Season 10 back in 2011 which saw him perform a song he hated in Miley Cyrus’ Party In The USA.

Spokesperson for the Department Of Homeland security Rachel Yong Yow told the gossip site that the man was ‘ultimately removed from the United States to his home country Dec. 11, 2017.’

He was convicted of an attempted rape in New York City back in August 26.

Yow explained: ‘Yoji Asano, a citizen and national of Japan, entered the country on a nonimmigrant visa but failed to depart the United States prior to its expiration.

‘Asano was convicted of attempted rape in the first degree with forcible compulsion pursuant to a judgement entered on Aug. 10, 2016, in the Supreme Court of the City of New York, County of New York.’ 

According to police Asano was charged with rape in 2015 following an incident with a woman who claimed that she had let the aspiring singer stay at her home for a few days.

It is alleged that he then crept into the bed of the woman and attempted to have sex with her then Asano had scurried off when she fought him off.

Yow said:  ‘He was sentenced to six years probation and was required to register as a sex offender. Asano was taken into ICE custody Nov. 1, 2017.’

He appeared on American Idol back in 2011 where he boasted to judges Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler, and Randy Jackson that he could already imitate Michael Jackson when he was in the womb.

He was ultimately rejected after a cringeworthy performance of Party In The USA by Miley Cyrus.
