Terrifying video shows the moment Arizona police open fire on a suspected carjacker in Phoenix. 

A 31-year-old man allegedly stole a produce truck when he ran a red light and hit a van after being involved in multiple other crashes.

Police say the man jumped out of produce truck stole a man’s pickup truck, who had stopped to help after the accident.

The suspect holed himself up in the pickup truck as police approached, according to ABC 15.

The owner of the pickup truck filmed the scene as police began attempting to negotiate with the suspect, who has not yet been named.

The man exited the vehicle and appears to point a handgun at the officers, who then open fire. 

‘I take my phone and start recording and I see the door open a little and all of a sudden a guy jumps out with a gun,’ said witness Harvey Sotelo.

‘I was crazy -uhh – I didn’t expect that to happen. I expected the guy to get out and give himself up.’

‘I feel for the guy that got shot… I feel for the officer who had to make that split decision and shoot him,’ Sotelo said.

The suspect is currently in the hospital with serious injuries, but is expected to survive.
