Armed thief shoots man in the leg as he runs away after giving up his motorbike without a struggle

This is the moment a motorcyclist survived a hijacking in Brazil when an armed robber shot him in the leg after threatening to kill him for his motorbike.

Despite giving up his vehicle without a struggle and running to escape, Luiz Carlos dos Santos Perez, 57, was reportedly still shot by the ruthless thief.

Footage filmed by a camera on the motorcyclist’s helmet captures the two flip-flop wearing suspects riding tandem on a bike.

They drive alongside Perez on a road in north Rio de Janeiro with one pointing a gun and gesturing for him to stop.

After pulling over near the kerb, the clip shows the armed suspect approaching Perez while issuing death threats and ordering the victim to hand over his bike immediately.

Perez’s pleas to the gunman to calm down only infuriates his attacker who becomes more agitated and screams at him to ‘hurry up and leave.’

The thief angrily accuses the victim of taking ‘too long’ to stop and to get off the vehicle.

He tries to pull the motorbike away from under the owner and violently lashes out, hitting the biker on the head with the butt of the weapon.

Getting off the motorbike, the victim starts to run away. But as he does, the robber who is still swearing and vowing to kill him allegedly fires a single shot in his direction.

Looking down, Perez suddenly realises he has been hit in the leg.

He frantically hobbles and drags himself to a waiting car which has stopped to help him.

Jumping in, the motorist asks, ‘did they shoot you?’ as the wounded man nurses his thigh in the blood soaked trousers.

The driver raced Perez to Salgado Filho Municipal Hospital where he underwent tests and x-rays but didn’t require surgery.

Footage registered the faces of the aggressors and the pair have since been identified by police as Franklin Maia de Oliveira André, 22, and Felipe de Souza Valeriano, 25.

Detective Fábio Asty said cops are confident on catching the suspects following the camera images which clearly show their faces.

‘We believe the pair were riding a stolen bike at the time of the robbery and this has already been recovered,’ he reported.

‘Both have criminal records and are known to us. We know the area they operate in and where they live, and we have a team searching for them,’ he added.

‘I stopped near the kerb, so they could take it but that’s when things got even worse. I just wanted to put it down without making them angry but that didn’t work,’ Perez told Globo TV.

The victim’s wife said her husband had a lucky escape as he could have been killed if the shot had been higher.

‘He didn’t need surgery as the bullet had already exited his leg,’ she explained while revealing her husband is ‘doing fine but he’s still in shock’.

The systems analyst was on his way to work on a new motorcycle, which he had recently bought, when the robbery happened. on Tuesday at around 10am.
