Ashley Hicks and Kata de Solis announce son’s birth in art

In the era of the selfie, how do you stand out from the crowd?

Prince Philip’s interior designer godson Ashley Hicks and his fashionista wife, Kata de Solis, have come up with a typically stylish solution.

They announced the birth of their first child, Caspian Donald, yesterday with an art work by their friend Donald Robertson.

In the illustration, which Kata, 36, shared online, Caspian is dressed as a bee and cradled in his mother’s arms. Ashley, 54, the grandson of the 1st Earl Mountbatten of Burma, stands behind them.

Ashley has two daughters with his first wife, fashion designer Allegra Hicks, 57. During high jinks at his wedding to Kata in 2015, his elder daughter, Angelica, now 25, shoved her new stepmother’s face into the cake.

Icing on the cake for the Millionaires’ ex-wives

Given the size of the cake, guests at Lisa Tchenguiz’s 53rd birthday party could have been forgiven for thinking they were at a wedding.

It was the centrepiece at the socialite’s ‘Arabian Nights’ shindig at her brother Robert’s £50 million Kensington home on Saturday.

Lisa, who fought a four-year divorce battle with businessman Vivian Imerman, before settling for £15 million, was joined by her aviation tycoon boyfriend Steve Varsano, 61.

Mark Lester’s life has taken more twists than a Hollywood movie since he was cast aged eight in the 1968 musical Oliver!

But the latest chapter is a sad one: Lester, now 59 and an osteopath, has called off his wedding to Emma Canham.

‘It’s with regret and a sense of sadness that Emma and I have mutually agreed to end our engagement,’ says Mark, who declines to explain why.

The former actor was a close friend of Michael Jackson and, after the singer’s death in 2009, claimed he could be the biological father of Jackson’s daughter, Paris, because he had acted as a sperm donor for him.

However, the Jacksons’ lawyer rejected the claim.

Some cheering news for the Queen’s Master of the Horse, Lord Vestey, whose daughter, Flora, has had a troubled love life.

The beef baron’s youngest daughter, Mary, has become engaged.

The 25-year-old, who trains point-to-point horses on her father’s 5,000-acre Stowell Park estate in the Cotswolds, is to marry fellow equine enthusiast Edward Cookson.

‘We are delighted,’ says Lord ‘Spam’ Vestey. ‘They will marry here next year.’

A royal presence can be expected at the wedding: Vestey is a close friend of Prince Charles, and Mary’s mother, Celia, is Prince Harry’s godmother.

Camilla’s nephew: Being rich and flashy isn’t cool

The Duchess of Cornwall’s nephew, Ben Elliot, makes a good living out of providing services to the super-rich — but he declares the age of extravagance over.

‘The super-rich will still come to London, and we need them to keep coming to live here, but they need to pay their way,’ says the co-founder of concierge firm Quintessentially.

‘Very rich people do not begrudge making a financial contribution to be part of a society, but surely we can devise a system where you can offset charity donations against tax.’

Elliot, 42, whose mother is Camilla’s sister Annabel, adds: ‘Our members don’t want frippery any more — people will always want the finest things in terms of jewellery and works of art, but there is a sophistication now. Being flashy and ostentatious is no longer cool or appropriate.’

Yet another Leftie has been put in charge of an Oxbridge college.

Helen Mountfield QC, who helped Gina Miller defeat the Government on its Brexit strategy, has been elected principal of Mansfield College, Oxford.

The Left has almost completely colonised Oxbridge college principalships. Mountfield is a vehement Remoaner, still agitating for Article 50 to be reversed.

Let it be hoped that she does not try to influence the minds of Mansfield students improperly.
