Australian Ashes team celebrates at Coogee Pavilion

They shared dressing room beers with their defeated opponents after destroying England 4-0 to regain the Ashes.

And Australia’s all-conquering cricket heroes continued their celebrations on Tuesday for a well-earned drink at Sydney’s Coogee Pavilion.

The players were seen mingling with locals during a 10-hour get-together on the rooftop of the trendy beachside bar in the city’s east.

Nathan Lyon was among the players spotted chatting to a group of smiling women after the team arrived at around midday.

With his baseball cap backwards and his sunglasses perched on his head, the 30-year-old shared a joke with the four female revellers.

MailOnline revealed last month Lyon was at the centre of a love triangle and had been in a secret year-long relationship with glamorous blonde, Emma McCarthy.

The revelations were said to have ‘devastated’ a ‘completely blindsided’ Melissa Waring – his long-term partner and mother of his two children.

Meanwhile, a senior Barmy Army member on Tuesday joined the Australian side on the rooftop of the popular bar.

The Englishman, wearing an orange shirt and board shorts, led the players into a tribute song to England off-spinner and middle order batsman, Moeen Ali.

Mitch Marsh and Pat Cummins were among the players to join the chorus, before Steve Smith joined a Barmy Army chant dedicated to England captain Joe Root.

‘They were getting amongst it – what would you do if you just want the Ashes?’ a source who was at the bar told Daily Mail Australia.

Later in the day, Smith was spotted with his arm around fast-bowler Mitch Starc as the pair appeared to be in deep conversation.

Two Ashes stars, Shaun Marsh and Jackson Bird, have come under fire after they were captured smoking during the celebrations.

The pair puffed on cigarettes throughout the day as they chatted to other players and fellow partygoers.

‘It is really poor judgement and really poor role modelling for them to be doing this in public,’ Dr Sarah White from Quit Victoria told The Daily Telegraph.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Cricket Australia for comment.

A spokesman told the Telegraph: ‘We are aware the players celebrated in a responsible manner following Australia’s Ashes win.’

The Ashes series started with spiteful barbs, but finished with shared beers in the SCG rooms.

Lyon and David Warner put England’s noses out of joint with a handful of incendiary comments before the five-Test series.

Lyon spoke of his side’s desire to end careers, while Warner fired the opening salvo in October when he used the words ‘hatred’ and ‘war’ in describing the rivalry.

England captain Joe Root fired back in response to Lyon’s words, saying ‘that’s not how I’d want my players to go about things’.

The vexed issue of sledging reared its head during the series opener in Brisbane, while there were a couple of tense verbal stoushes at Adelaide Oval.

However, both camps insisted throughout the summer there was always a level of mutual respect.

The proof came when Australia and England engaged in the customary post-series tradition of sharing stories and a drink.

‘Yes, we will be going into their dressing room for a beer and to chew the fat,’ England veteran Jimmy Anderson said.

‘It’s always good. Obviously, it’s better when we win, but we’ve just got to cop that on the chin.

‘The whole series has been played in a really good spirit. There were always going to be a few talking points around an Ashes series.

‘Because it’s so high profile and both teams are desperate to win, that’s the nature of this series.’
