An Australian Border Force official and a former police officer are accused of helping an alleged Sydney criminal gang smuggle millions of dollars’ worth of drugs into the country.

The three Jomaa brothers, Eakin and former NSW police officer Johayna Mehri were arrested as part of drug raids across Sydney and Dubai in August.

Eakin receieved $100,000 from Mehri to find sensitive information when he was the supervisor of Customs House Cargo Targeting and Assessment section, according to a police statement of facts previously seen in court.

Ali Jomaa allegedly used a Blackberry to communicate with a police witness about information Eakin had given him on how to avoid detection.

On July 20 police raided Eakins home and found $99,000 Mehri had allegedly given him on behalf of the Jomaa brothers.

The case will return to court in 2018.
