The interview asks participants to navigate their way through different rooms, while picking up on subtle cues.

Interviewees are then asked to answer questions based on what they heard and saw.

Applicants need to show they can pay attention to detail, are smart, perceptive, and empathetic to people around them.

From the comfort of home, applicants can prove they have what it takes to become an agent for Australia’s Secret Intelligence Service.

Foreign Minister Julie Bishop announced the opportunity on Tuesday, saying the agency decided to take a new approach to hiring.

‘For obvious reasons, most Australians are not aware of ASIS and its activities… this makes it difficult to recruit the right people to work in the fields of intelligence and espionage,’ she said.

‘Applicants are invited to take what will be the most interesting job interview they are likely to face, which will identify those smart, perceptive, empathetic individuals with the ‘human intelligence’ to work for ASIS.’

Ms Bishop said agents were involved in gathering intelligence for issues like counter terrorism, people smuggling, and following people who might be threat to Australia.

‘We’re looking for intelligent people from a diverse range of backgrounds,’ she said.

‘And absolutely committed to pursuing Australia’s national interest.’
