Beauty expert gives her mother an incredible makeover – shaving YEARS off her face

An Australian beauty blogger has taught her mum how to do her makeup like a professional – and it has shaved years off the 60-year-old’s face.

Stephanie Lange, originally from New South Wales, uploaded a video to her YouTube channel detailing the best tips and tricks for creating a flawless complexion when you have mature skin.

In the tutorial, Stephanie did her mother Nola’s makeup on one side of her face and then Nola did the other side to the best of her ability.

‘I think with a bit of practice it will be really easy to do,’ Stephanie’s mum said.

Stephanie started by applying Fenty foundation on her mother’s eyelids as a base for her eye shadow.

Although her mum was initially hesitant over this idea once she was told it was to keep the eye shadow in place she loved the nifty trick.

‘That’s probably why my eye shadow doesn’t last all day,’ Nola said.

Stephanie then set it in place with the Fenty Beauty Loose Banana Powder and gently dabbed it into place using a damp beauty blender.

For the eye shadow Stephanie used the Tarteist Pro Palette from Tarte and explained that matte shades are amazing for those with mature or hooded eyelids.

She applied the lightest shade of shadow on the mobile eyelid, which is the part that moves, making sure it was underneath the hood of the eye.

For the transition shade she went with a medium colour and used a darker shade for the outer corner of the eye, keeping it as close to the lashes as possible.

Stephanie then made the decision to create faux liner instead of using liquid eyeliner.

‘Faux liner looks really good on hooded eyes and mature eyes using a black eyeshadow,’ she said.

‘The whole idea of this is to make the lash line appear really full, really thick and to define the lash line as well.

‘It’s so much easier to do than a liquid liner, which has to be really precise and really neat.’

To do this, Stephanie used an extremely small brush, such as a lip brush, and applied it as close to the root of the lashes as possible.

The mother and daughter duo also lined the top water line to help make the lashes look really thick.

When it came to the foundation Stephanie told Nola she uses a brush first as it gives more control over how much product you apply.

Then she went in with a damp sponge to ensure the foundation was properly blended before using a translucent powder.

She taught her mother how to fill in her brows like a professional by following the shape of the natural brow.

Stephanie used a brow pencil to apply gentle hair-like flicks to thicken up the brow and added a highlighter underneath the brow to create an instant face lift.

Another handy trick she shared with Nola and her 1.2 million subscribers is how to make large pores look smaller.

She said swiping down over pores with a brush doesn’t fill them in but if you use a blending brush and do ‘tiny, gentle circular motions’, it gets the foundation into the pores and makes them look smaller.

‘Make sure you put all of your creams and liquids before you put on your powder as you can’t put cream over powder as it won’t blend,’ Stephanie said.

‘It turned out to be easier than I thought it would be, it’s a matter of having the brushes and those little sponges,’ Nola said.

‘I hope I look half as good as my babe of a mum in my 60s!’ Stephanie said in an Instagram post showcasing the finished look.
