Beyonce and Jay-Z receive the key to the city of New Orleans for their ‘humanitarian work’

They gifted $100,000 scholarships to high school students in ten cities during their On The Run II tour.

And New Orleans mayor LaToya Cantrell ‘surprised’ Jay-Z and Beyonce with ‘a key to the city’ on Monday.

The acknowledgement was ‘to highlight both his and Beyonce’s collective humanitarian work,’ wrote the mayor in an Instagram post. 

In the post, the 99 Problems rapper could be seen wearing a T-shirt and jeans while he received the framed key.

Around his neck was a gold chain and he sported a backwards maroon cap.

‘The Carters recently launched scholarship funds that will benefit cities on their tour,’ wrote LaToya.

‘The #CityOfYes embraces you both with love!’

Beyonce is on the last leg of her On The Run Tour II with husband Jay-Z.

And one of the remaining stops for the Formation singer was her hometown of Houston, Texas where she posted a variety of snaps from the concert on Saturday.

The 36-year-old beauty looked every inch the pop superstar as she dazzled in an array of ensembles with the caption: ‘9 more shows. Houston I’m home!’
