Bodybuilders show off their impressive physiques at WBFF competition

Bodybuilders from across the globe have flocked to Sydney to show off their impressive physiques and compete for ‘pro status’.

Rock-hard abs, glitzy bikinis, star spangled speedos and six-inch stilettos were all on display as The World Beauty Fitness and Fashion competition touched down in Chatswood.

The WBFF competitions were started by professional athlete Paul Dillet and holds competitions across the world that seek to ‘merge fashion and beauty in a unique and spectacular event like no other seen.’

Competitors enter an array of events including ‘Best in Muscle Model, Figure Model, Diva Bikini Model and Diva Fitness Model.’

And while glamour is meant to take centre stage for the event, it’s really all about the dedication says this year’s transformation winner Kaity Jade.

‘It was the greatest and most rewarding experience I have ever had. Every cent invested, every drip of sweat, every sacrifice of pizza for chicken and broccoli was worth it,’ she tells Daily Mail Australia.

Kaity, who lives in NSW, is currently in the early stages of cancer remission after being diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma.

She has spent the last twelve months recovering and training. First she would just walk around the block, now she trains six times a week.

While she was hoping to perform in the bikini division, she said taking the trophy home meant more than just a personal win.

‘I got the opportunity to bring hope to other cancer fighters and survivors and also inspire all walks of life to strive for their goals no matter what struggles they face along the way.

Across the event male and female entrants compete in different categories, all striving to take home a title and earn ‘Pro Status’.

‘Diva models’ as they’re referred to have to adhere to strict guidelines surrounding their presentation.

Bikinis can’t be thongs, evening gowns have to be floor length and earrings are not allowed to touch the shoulders.

Females are required to wear a 4-6 inch stiletto or pumps while on stage – and although they are allowed to choose the colour, there are specific requirements to keep it ‘classy.’

‘The WBFF is all about fashion so keep it stylish and classy. Let your shoes compliment your wardrobe,’ the rule states.

Competitors are also required to use the official tanning services of the WBFF to ensure the lighting hits them just right.

‘All competitors are required to use the official WBFF tanning service to ensure all competitors have the correct tan for WBFF stage lighting and judging criteria.’

And those being judged in the ‘diva’ categories are required to walk on stage in specific patterns.

‘Competitors must be able to present themselves in a classy feminine and tasteful way that is marketable,’ the rule reads.

Kaity says that while the rules for some competitions can be strict, the transformation division is all about comfort and confidence.

‘In the transformation division it is more about showcasing our hard work from where we came from to where we are now so whatever we felt most comfortable in was accepted.

‘The WBFF is all about glitz, glam and bringing your personality to the stage, so showing that confidence through a beautiful outfit is always a great place to start.’

Kaity says that for her, bodybuilding is about being healthy, not thin, and gives her a huge zap of confidence.

‘Obviously it can be a bit nerve-racking in the lead up to stepping on stage but the atmosphere backstage is so great that it quickly converts the nerves into excitement.

‘Hearing everyone cheer for you is such a great feeling and it’s the moment every competitor has worked so hard for so I just entered that stage with confidence, a smile and treated it more as a celebration of good health than a competition.
