Brazen quad bike pulls reckless stunt on London motorway

  • A quad bike was filmed pulling a reckless stunt on an east London motorway
  • The rider pulled the bike up into an almost vertical position for minutes
  • Wheelies are extremely dangerous as the vehicle can fall and crush the rider

A quad biker was filmed performing a reckless stunt as he pulled a seemingly endless, almost vertical wheelie on a motorway in London.

One foot on the back ‘grab’ bar of the bike, one pushed forward on the front pedal, the man rode the large quad bike for long minutes on the  A12 in east London near the Blackwall tunnel.

The driver’s identity is concealed by a black balaclava and goggles.

Another rider can be seen filming the dangerous driving as his rear-view mirror catches a glimpse of him and his phone.

The video racked up 4,057 views in 17 hours after it was posted on Instagram.

Wheelies can be extremely dangerous as gravity can pull the bike down on top of the rider.

The type of wheelie that the unidentified rider pulled on the motorway is called a ‘split’ according to a quad specialist website.

The website warns that in this position, a rider’s left foot can sometimes hit the ground which can pull a person off of the quad and potentially injure or kill them.

Most quad bikes cannot be used legally on public roads because they do not meet road safety standards.

Quad bikes must be approved, registered, taxed and have an MOT (if needed) to be used on the road.
