British barrister’s son accused of raping a student

The son of a high flying British barrister is in court accused of raping a student, 20, while she slept at his parent’s luxury Manhattan apartment.

George Fay, 23, was in Manhattan Supreme Court for the first day of his trial for allegedly climbing on top of a woman as she slept and forcing her to perform oral sex in July 2016.

The woman was at Fay’s family’s apartment on the Upper East Side in July 2016, after she went home with one of his friends, Jack Slye, prosecutor Sara Sullivan told a jury, according to The Sun.

The court heard how Fay allegedly climbed on top of her as she slept and forced her to perform oral sex.

‘As she slept next to her friend, she thought she was safe. Instead she woke up to this man George Fay, a stranger, forcing oral sex as she lay sleeping,’ she added.

Fay, whose father Michael Fay is a deputy high court judge in the Caribbean, and Slye, who has known the defendant since childhood, had been out drinking together with friends when Fay reportedly gave Slye the keys to the apartment so he could ‘hook up’ with the student.

The court heard that Slye, who had been celebrating his 22nd birthday, and the alleged victim had consensual sex then fell asleep together.

Prosecutors say that Fay, a former star lacrosse player at a top American boarding school, had then sneaked in and put his penis in the sleeping woman’s mouth.

During his Slye’s testimony, Fay reportedly silently stared at his former friend.

Fay, who denies three counts of rape, sex abuse and committing a criminal sexual act while the victim was ‘physically incapable’ of giving consent, was arrested in July 2016 but was granted bail and appeared to be wearing an ankle monitor.

His mother Sofia, a partner in a Caribbean PR company, was in court for his hearing.

She, Fay and his father Michael, 53, a Queens Counsel barrister, split their time between the Channel Islands, the Virgin Islands and America.

Michael Fay, a partner in a top Virgin Islands law firm, was also in court for the hearing.

He is expected to be called as a witness for the defense.

George Fay has pleaded not guilty to all charges and his lawyers have questioned the woman’s account, saying she had given several different versions which each had ‘omissions and distortions’.

In particular, they questioned her description that when she woke up to find Fay allegedly forcing her into oral sex, she simply went back to sleep.

The trial continues.
