Police sources told MailOnline that Dane, 26, who manages the Manchester United forward, was robbed of a watch and Tyler Arnold-Alexander’s wallet and Range Rover was taken after the thugs demanded the keys.

A third unnamed friend of the pair was also attacked and injured after being robbed, a police source said.

A white BMW 3 series was also used by the raiders.

Police have been told the brutal gang brandished a shotgun, machete and baseball bat and attacked them shortly after they had stopped at the restaurant.

The trio were on their way to the south coast to see Liverpool’s evening match with Brighton when they decided to stop at the Little Rock restaurant in Princess Road, Manchester.

Officers are investigating the possibility that the gang may have followed the luxury cars through Moss Side and pounced when the three unsuspecting victims stopped at the restaurant.

The robbers burst into the restaurant at around 10.30am on Saturday and made off with the two cars and stolen wallets, watches and other items.

The Range Rover was later found by police at Bowland Drive in Fallowfield.

A source said: ‘Thankfully they are all going to be OK. They were terrified as the men had a gun. It was a shocking incident.

‘They had only stopped at the last minute for some food. You would expect something like this to happen in the dead of night and not at such an early time of the day.’
