Bryan Singer’s ex reveals ‘drug, sex-filled year’ together

One of Bryan Singer’s alleged lovers has pulled back the curtain on his relationship with the beleaguered X-Men director — a relationship that involved fancy dinners, set visits and easy access to drugs and sex.

‘It was a never-ending supply of cute young men,’ Bret Tyler Skopek, 22, told Deadline in an exclusive interview, in which he opened up about his year-long relationship with Singer.

Then 18, Skopek said that he initially met Singer — dressed up as a Catholic priest — at a 2013 Halloween party a month after he arrived in Los Angeles, but that he didn’t know who the director at the time.

Not long after the Halloween party, Skopek said a middle-aged computer technician started texting him. Following a lunch, the man invited Skopek to his home, then allegedly plied him with MDMA and raped him while he was unconscious.

Skopek did not press charges against the man, who later introduced him to a variety of prominent Hollywood personalities, Skopek said.

In December 2013, had his second encounter with Singer at a birthday party dinner that Singer threw for the computer tech at Nobu Restaurant.

Skopek recalled that Singer had boasted about spending $1,000 on the dinner bill that night, then invited him, along with two other young men at the party, back to his house on Sunset Strip.

Following a tour of the house, Skopek said that he and the other young men were ‘kind of chilling’ in the basement. Then, ‘Bryan takes us up, one by one, and gives us all a Molly,’ Skopek told Deadline, adding that Singer split the pills with them saying, ‘”I’ll do half if you do half.”‘

After ingesting the drugs, Skopek said that he, Singer and the other two men started having group sex. The next morning, Singer offered to take Skopek to breakfast and then to visit Singer’s Bad Hat Harry Productions studio, where they were editing one of the X-Men movies at the time.

‘We maybe spend almost the whole day together at the studio until I take a Snapchat … Bryan gets mad at me and says he’ll have his assistant drive me home,’ Skopek said.

Skopek said that the December 2013 encounter was the first of many that involved dinner, then group sex with Singer.

During their year together, Skopek said that he witnessed several occasions in which Singer would use his powerful position as a A-List director to attempt to lure attractive actors to his home, by having friends reach out to the actors under the guise of casting for Singer’s next movie.

Skopek also recalled instances in which he would be with Singer, while Singer texted other people saying, ”Hey, I have little Bret here. I want you to come over and do him.”

In Spring 2014, Skopek said Singer offered him money to stay in LA when Skopek said that he might need to move away from the city because he couldn’t make ends meet on the money he was earning as a host and cashier at a restaurant in West Hollywood.

Money came up again that year, Skopek said, when Michael Egan III filed a civil lawsuit against Singer, claiming that Singer had drugged him and forced him into having sex at parties while still a teen.

This time around, Skopek said Singer told his assistant to give him $10,000 in cash for rent money. Skopek also said that the lawsuit ‘depressed’ Singer, who would ‘cry himself to sleep’ after Skopek went to his house.

Skopek said that he ended his relationship with Singer in December 2014, after coming to the conclusion that their relationship was one-sided.

Skopek, who said that Singer had promised him a part in an X-Men movie that never came through, began to see himself as the ‘after-hours kid’ — Singer’s beck and call guy.

‘I was so depressed,’ Skopek said. ‘They would lead me on that I could get an audition. But all you’re good for is sex.’

In a Facebook post, Skopek wrote on Friday, ‘Bryan is a troubled man, only when he chooses to let the light in his soul — shine, will he wake up from delusion. I want him to be happy, but first he needs to learn how his behavior and tendencies can effect one’s morale.’

He also wrote, ‘I wish him the best, he needs real friends. He doesn’t sorround [sic] himself with any.’

When reached by Deadline, a Singer spokesperson said, ‘If Mr. Skopek had a problem with Bryan, he never mentioned it before today.’

The spokesperson also said that Skopek had ‘repeatedly’ asked Singer for money during the intervening years since their first meeting, including ‘as recently as last month.’

In response to the notion that Singer had tried to use a potential role in an X-Men movie to entice Skopek’s attentions during their relationship, the spokesperson refuted the idea, noting instead that Skopek had asked Singer for a role in X-Men: Apocalypse, ‘which Bryan declined to offer to him.’

‘The timing of Mr. Skopek coming forward now with these allegations is questionable,’ the spokesperson said.

Skopek is in the process of writing a fictionalized account of his experience in Hollywood, which was recently funded through $5,000 worth of donations on Kickstarter.
