Calgary drivers can’t stop crashing into giant rock

A rock has been removed from a busy shopping centre car park after hopeless motorists kept crashing into it.

At least three motorists collided with the giant boulder despite it being surrounded by bright yellow curbs and hilarious images of cars stranded on top of it were posted online.

The rock in Sage Hill, Calgary, had been dubbed the ‘Sage Hill Rock’ before it was taken away due to the accidents.

Brangwyn Jones lives in the neighbourhood and manages a local community Facebook page, reports CBC News.

He wrote online: ‘I don’t know how you miss this big rock or how you cut the curb so tight you end up jacked up on the rock.

‘I’m trying to wrap my mind around it, as are many of the community members.’

Mark Nguyen was driving to Walmart at 1pm on Saturday when he noticed an SUV was on its side.

His photograph was uploaded on the Facebook page and pictures of two other vehicles ended up on the site after the drivers also got into difficulty.

According to CBC News, an employee who works nearby said the rock was added the car park to stop drivers going over the curb.

Mr Jones added: ‘To be honest, this kind of made our weekend. I was very surprised how many people were into the Sage Hill Rock.’

Before it had been removed, people said the rock was ‘far too entertaining’, while others wrote ‘leave it’ and ‘poor misunderstood rock’ after learning it was going to be removed.

Mr Jones had said the rock could be turned into a site for people to visit and donate money to the Calgary Food Bank when they take pictures of the famous boulder.
