Cannes Film Festival: Gary Oldman shares an affectionate kiss with his fifth wife Gisele Schmidt

He’s nine months into his fifth marriage, after tying the knot with writer and art curator Gisele Schmidt in August.

And Gary Oldman, 60, appeared to be lapping up life as a newlywed when he stepped out with his wife for an event at the Cannes Film Festival on Thursday.

The Oscar-winning actor shared a loving kiss with Gisele as the pair put on an affectionate display while attending a photocall for the Rendez-vous With Gary Oldman masterclass, set to be held at the Buñuel Theatre.

Cutting a dapper figure in a navy suit with a crisp white shirt, the Darkest Hour star locked lips with Gisele, who was resplendent in a red pleated gown, as they stood before dozens of gathered photographers ahead of the big event.

And while he was the star of the moment – with the event being one of four in which a featured artist or director discusses their passion for cinema with festival attendees – Gary appeared keen to share the spotlight with his significant other.

Gisele looked at ease during her moment in the spotlight, wearing her greying brunette locks in an elegant wavy half updo, while highlighting her natural beauty with a light and flattering palette of makeup.

Standing tall in a pair of black suede platform heels, she accessorised with a pair of glittering delicate earrings, while her sparkling wedding ring stole the attention.

Gary recently revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live that he proposed to Gisele while he was dressed as his Oscar-winning role Winston Churchill in the Darkest Hour.

He said: ‘There was a break in the filming, and we had talked about it and I just felt the urge.

‘We were down in the war rooms, and I took her into the back room. And as Winston Churchill, I said “Will you marry me?”‘
