Car passenger has a 6.5ft spear impaled in his back

A man in east China was sent into a hospital with a six-foot-long spear pierced from the back.

Doctors inspected the patient and found that the spearhead was lodged deeply inside his body when he was sent in last Friday.

Local police investigated and believed it was not a mere accident.

An anonymous source told local newspaper, anwang.cn, the unnamed man was attacked while sitting in his car as he spear was thrown through a window and into his back.

He was sent into Huangshan People’s Hospital, Anhui Province, for emergency treatment at midnight on December 8.

Video from the hospital shows the man lying on his stomach as the spear protrudes from his back.

Doctors avoided removing the tip for fear of causing the victim to bleed to death.

They decided to shorten the two-metre-long (6.56 ft)spear before transferring him to another hospital with better equipment.

The authorities said the red-tasselled spear was famously used by for centuries by warriors in imperial China.

Reports said he arrived in east China’s Zhejiang Province for further treatment and is thought to be in stable condition following his surgery.

Huangshan police have confirmed that they are now looking into the incident and believed that it could be an intentional attack.

However, they refused to give out any further details due to the number of people involved. 

The victim himself has also not revealed further details about the attack.
