Cassandra Thorburn has hit back at reports she ‘took a swipe’ at her ex-husband Karl Stefanovic’s new wife Jasmine Yarbrough.
Speaking to Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday, the 47-year-old former journalist claimed that her comments at a mother and baby event in Sydney on Tuesday were taken completely out of context.
She said: ‘The bullying campaign by the media to make me out as a bitter ex-wife is disgraceful.’

She was responding to an article originally published by The Daily Telegraph on Wednesday, which claimed she made a subtle reference to Jasmine while hosting an event at Luna Park.
The mother-of-three reportedly said on stage: ‘[Life] is not a fashion show, it’s not a competition… It is not a competition on going out and dressing up.’
This was interpreted as a ‘dig’ at Jasmine, who is a former model and shoe designer.

Cassandra told Daily Mail Australia on Wednesday that she was not referring to her ex-husband’s new wife, however.
She was instead talking about motherhood generally and encouraging other women not to worry about their looks while trying to juggle their responsibilities.
‘Anyone who knows knows me at all knows I have never believed following fashion is a good thing,’ she added.

‘Women should dress in what makes them feel good. It is not a competition. That’s what I said on the panel. They have been my views forever. Individuality and accepting ourselves for who we each are is what we should strive for.’
Cassandra and Karl split in 2016 after 21 years of marriage. They share custody of three children: Jackson, River and Ava.
Karl, meanwhile, is due to exchange vows with Jasmine this coming weekend at the One&Only Palmilla resort in San José del Cabo, Mexico.
The couple are already legally married in Australia.
