CCTV shows a ‘big cat’ or lion strolling through Birmingham

A woman claims to have spotted a lion outside her home after her CCTV filmed a large beast walk past her bins.

Dawn Paige, 53, checked her security cameras after noticing that rubbish bins at her home in Oldbury, West Midlands, had been moved.

After watching the footage she believes it’s a female lion roaming the streets – while others think it’s probably just a big dog.

The teaching assistant, who lives just four miles from Dudley Zoo, said: ‘I saw my bins had been moved and I thought it was kids messing around.

‘I had the shock of my life when I saw that thing come into view. I was physically shaking.

‘At first, I thought it must be a big dog, but it moves just like a cat.

‘I took the footage into work and asked some of the teachers what they thought, and they agree with me it looks like a leopard, or a she-lion.

‘I’ve got a little dog and I’m absolutely terrified for her safety.’

She then called her next door neighbour, Rachel George, 47 who posted the video on Facebook, to try to identify the animal or find out if it’s somebody’s pet.

Rachel said: ‘It just went mad when I posted it on Facebook.

‘There were so many people worried about what it might be, and thousands of people commenting saying they thought it was a big cat.
