Celine Tam advances to semis of America’s Got Talent

Celine Tam advanced to the semifinals of America’s Got Talent on Wednesday and the nine-year-old singer said she felt ‘very great’ about the opportunity.

The sweet child had caused some discrepancy with the judges after singing When You Believe by Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey last night – with Mel B saying the song was ‘too big’ for her.

But after the public vote Celine was through along with six other acts.

Ukrainian dance crew Light Balance were the first to be saved despite ‘technical difficulties’ on Tuesday’s live show.

‘Well done boys!’ exclaimed Mel, 42.

Next to hit the safe zone was deaf singer Mandy Harvey, who lost her hearing 10 years ago, at age 18.

‘Unreal, this is amazing thank you so much,’ she sobbed.

Singer Johnny Manuel, 32, who once toured with NSYNC, also progressed.

‘You are a little star…you’ve got the imagination Merrick…to find a song and do something that’s going to go viral and take you even further,’ predicted the 57-year-old music executive.

The three acts with the lowest votes were put up to another public vote via the Dunkin’ Donuts Save.

Viewers were asked to vote for 13-year-old singer Evie Clair, mature harmonizing trio The Masqueraders and magician Eric Jones.

In a final vote by the judges Heidi Klum and Simon went for the Masqueraders, but Mel and Howie went with Eric – causing a tie.

The public chose illusionist Eric.

Along with The Masqueraders, The Pompeyo Family Dogs, escape artist Demian Aditya, Mirror Image and California dance group Brobots & Mandroidz were also eliminated.

America’s Got Talent continues next week on NBC with another group of acts performing for a chance to make the semifinals.
