A chef has been overwhelmed with requests for her homemade strawberry jam after her bid to save farmers from the sabotaged fruit crisis went viral.

Brooke Nugent, business owner of catering company Feed Your Tribe, was inundated with over 200 orders of jam.

The mother-of-two from Diamond Creek, Melbourne, saw the need to support devastated farmers suffering financially from strawberries sabotaged with needles.

Ms Nugent posted pictures of her shopping trolley yesterday where she had 100 punnets of strawberries with her two children which said ‘I’ll buy the strawberries that others won’t and turn them into jam.’

The post went viral and was shared hundreds of times within hours.  

‘The whole situation is just devastating, farmers losing their whole lively hoods because of a few people’s selfish stupidity,’ the post read. 

‘I bought 100 punnets of strawberries yesterday and I’ll need more as I’ve got over 200, and they’re still coming,’ Ms Nugent told 9News. ‘

Ms Nugent will donate all profits she earns from her home-made jams to Australian farmers. 

Farmers are now being forced to spend thousands of dollars everyday picking strawberries they have to immediately throw out as supermarkets rip produce off shelves in case they are contaminated with needles. 

Due to a high demand in orders, Ms Nugent has had to close orders but will continue making more.
