Chinese man caught painting his own road signs

  • Chinese man named Cai caught on CCTV painting lines at busy junction
  • He frequently uses the road in city of Lianyungang for his morning commute
  • However his cunning plan was soon thwarted after he was caught on CCTV

This man’s morning commute was so bad that he was driven to draw his own markings on the road.

A Chinese man named Cai refused to waste his mornings sitting in traffic so he decided to draw another arrow on the road in order to speed up his commute.

China Daily reported that Mr Cai brought a brush, ruled and white paint and set about painting an intersection where he was regularly caught up in traffic in the city of Lianyungang.

At one of the busy turnings, he drew an arrow directing cars to go straight in a lane which was reserved for left-hand turns.

However the 28-year-old’s cunning idea did not go exactly according to plan after he was caught on CCTV and given a hefty fine worth £100.

He told police: ‘I saw that the straight lane was always packed with cars, while the lane that turns left has a lot of space,’ he told the police.

‘I thought changing the signs would make my commute smoother.’

Mr Cai’s actions were described as ‘very dangerous’ by the police.

They added that his self-made road signs have since been taken down.
