Chrissy Teigen celebrates her grey hair

Women have been celebrating their greying hair after US model Chrissy Teigen tweeted that she has a ‘skunk-like streak of grey hair’.

The 33-year-old model, who’s expecting her second child with husband John Legend, sparked a deluge of positive responses after she shared the news on the social media site.

Hundreds of people have since posted photos of their own salt-and-pepper streaked locks, with many saying they love the look.

And the postive comments came in their hundreds too, with more than 52,000 people liking the tweet.

Many suggested that having grey hair was simply ‘silver sparkles’ and that women should be celebrated as ‘silver sirens’.

@thewolfhuntress posted a photo of her striped hair, saying ‘@chrissyteigen Me too! Own it own it own it.’

@ohrachie reassured: ‘I find new grey hairs on my head every day and I LOVE THEM. I’m only 24, so I’m not sure why they’re already here but I call them my unicorn hairs.’

@Allison_Crowe replied saying: ‘Saaaame – got some highlights to help it grow out more naturally in September and actually can’t wait to see all the actual grey on its own! So far this is the lowest maintenance colour I’ve ever had! Hahaha’

@KClemay replied saying: 'Love my grey hair!'

WHY DO MANY WOMEN CHOOSE TO DITCH HAIR DYE DURING PREGNANCY?

The worry about using hair dyes is that after inhaling noxious chemicals, they might pass through to the baby and lead to birth defects.

The most risky time for any drugs or chemicals is during the first trimester (up to 13 weeks), as this is when the organs are forming.

There is little evidence to suggest that hair dye can cause harm to an unborn child but many women choose to refrain during pregnancy

After that, they are essentially developed and now maturing and getting larger.

This doesn’t mean there is no chance of any effect after this time – for example heavy, regular alcohol consumption is known to cause a specific type of abnormality in the baby.

The evidence for hair colouring agents harming your baby is actually not very strong. The research that has been done doesn’t support the theory, but it must be remembered that this is not something that has been well studied – i.e. no evidence of harm isn’t the same as evidence of no harm.

@KymikoTan added: ‘SAME. My husband asked to pull it out and I yelled: ‘NO, MY SUPER POWERS.’

The US model announced her second pregnancy with husband John Legend late last year and the supermodel has also been showing off her latest bump.

Many women refrain from dying their hair when pregnant particularly during the earliest months (up to 13 weeks) when a baby’s organs are forming, although there is little evidence to suggest hair dying can harm an unborn child.

The mother-of-one looked supremely comfortable as she reclined on a couch wearing nothing but a robe, exposing her bare belly and a bit of cleavage.

She captioned the sultry image, Girls weekend – Quaker Hill, NY – 2018, leading fans to believe she may be expecting a little girl.

One fan commented on the photo, ‘Is it a girl??’ while another admirer wrote, ‘another baby girl’ on her timeline.

The Sports Illustrated swimsuit model took to Snapchat earlier in the week to display the bump and sharing her difficulty with her wardrobe as she joked that, ‘My robe won’t close.’

It was Luna who announced her mother’s second pregnancy to the public in a heartwarming video Chrissy posted to Instagram this past November.

‘Luna, what’s in here?’ said the mother-of-two-to-be, referring to her stomach, and her firstborn replied: ‘Baby.’

In her caption, Chrissy vamped: ‘it’s john’s!’

The brunette beauty, who last year revealed she has given up drinking, has been open about suffering postpartum depression after Luna’s birth.

Writing in Glamour last year, she confided: ‘I still don’t really like to say: “I have postpartum depression,” because the word depression scares a lot of people.

‘I often just call it “postpartum.” Maybe I should say it, though. Maybe it will lessen the stigma a bit,’ reasoned the Utah-born Los Angeles dweller.

Near the end of the piece, she wrote: ‘I love John and Luna more than I can imagine loving anything, and John and I still hope to give Luna a few siblings.

‘Postpartum,’ she added, ‘hasn’t changed that.’
