While Sydney sweltered through temperatures nearing 30C on Sunday, flood warnings remained for parts of Victoria and snow was even recorded in central Tasmania.
Resorts east of Launceston posted photos of white blanketing the ground, with residents choosing to stay indoors out of the cold.

The snow was mostly seen through the North East Highlands and Central Plateau, a Bureau of Meteorology spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia on Sunday.
The Great Lakes Hotel took to Facebook to show their snowfall, writing ‘Nice surprise – just stuck my nose out to see why the power flickered. SNOW back to bed for me.’
Conditions are expected to remain cool through the rest of the week, with a series of lows moving through the North East again on Wednesday, bringing a chance of rain.
More than 30mm was recorded overnight, with Hobart receiving 36mm and Mt Wellington copping 52mm, prompting police to warn motorists to drive to the conditions.

Weatherzone meteorologist Brett Dutschke warned the rain would settle back in for the start of the working week with ‘tomorrow noticeably cooler and wet’.
‘Most of the rain is going to fall in the eastern suburbs near the beaches,’ he said.

The potential for floods remains after two days of torrential rains threatened to burst river banks in Euroa and Myrtleford.
Residents were told to prepare for the worst by sandbagging their homes, while others chose to flee the swelling rivers and creeks.

Premier Daniel Andrews urged all Victorians to stay vigilant and look after each other, particularly those in the flood-threatened centres.
‘Some of these rainfall totals we’ve seen are well and truly an entire summer’s rain almost in just a 24-hour period,’ he told reporters in Melbourne.
The weather is set to ease off for Victoria though now, a Weatherzone spokesman told Daily Mail Australia on Sunday.
‘Showers are still expected to fall across Melbourne but they will be similar to a cold front,’ the spokesman said.
‘The storm is moving south to Tasmania now but there will be showers across the east of Melbourne.’
