CT man pleads guilty to having sex with dead girlfriend

A man has been locked up after pleading guilty to having sex with his dead girlfriend because he thought it would wake her up, new court documents show.

Aaron Graser, from Willimantic, Connecticut, pleaded guilty to fourth-degree sexual assault on a corpse and violation of probation and was sentenced to a year in prison, according to the Hartford Courant.

The 39-year-old was spared placement on the state’s sex offender registry because a judge said it wasn’t necessary for ‘public safety based upon the facts in this case.’

He was initially charged with second-degree assault but agreed to plead guilty if the charge was lessened.

In January police received a frantic 911 call about an unresponsive woman.

They arrived at Graser’s home and found the woman, who hasn’t been named, unconscious and surrounded by heroin needles.

First responders tried to resuscitate her, but were unsuccessful, and a medical examiner later confirmed that the woman was dead before the 911 call was placed.

Graser told police that her found his girlfriend unresponsive and hunched over with the heroin and drug paraphernalia in her lap and decided the best way to rouse her would be by having sex with her.

Graser claims he couldn’t tell she was dead because her body was still making noises.

‘Aaron stated he listened to see if the victim was breathing and he heard gurgling,’ his arrest warrant says, according to the Courant.

‘Aaron stated he knew the victim hated having sex with him so he figured that the victim might wake up if he had sex with her.’

Graser also told police he tied her ankles and wrists to the bed posts because it was a ‘fetish’ of his.

When he finished having sex with her body and realized she wasn’t waking up, he put her pants back on and called his neighbor, a former paramedic.

The neighbor told police he believed the woman had been dead for multiple hours.

He was correct, according to an autopsy. The victim’s wrists had ligature marks from when Graser tied her to the bed, but there was no bruising, indicating a lack of blood flow at the time she was tied up.

A medical examiner testified that the gurgling Graser heard could have been gases leaving the woman’s body as it began to decompose.

The woman died of a drug overdose, and a toxicology report showed she had high levels of fentanyl, heroin and another synthetic drug in her body at the time of her death.
