An investigation is underway after a dead cat was found dumped on the roadside, bound with wire and stuffed inside a dog food bag.

Mel Hamilton came across the sickening sight near Whalan, west of Sydney.

She said it ‘looks like someone has murdered this cat and thrown it out [of] a car’.

Ms Hamilton said police have been notified and the RSPCA is investigating the incident.

‘They will take prints and autopsy, and prosecute if they can,’ she said.

She posted a photo of the cat to a Facebook community group.

Ms Hamilton said she took the cat home with her to her mother’s house before calling RSPCA investigators – adding it was ‘f**king disgusting’.

‘Trust me it’s not natural,’ she said.

‘There is a slash in the bag like a stabbing, it’s been tied with wire to prevent it escaping and the bag smells like human s**t… this is a case of torture and murder… no doubt about it.’

She said the cat had been scanned but no microchip was detected.

‘What’s more important is these bastard[s] that have done this get caught.

‘And the best way for this is to let them investigate, take prints and autopsy.’

Ms Hamilton said she was hoping to drive around the area where the cat was found to see if there were any surveillance cameras in place.
