A driver has been slugged with a $391 fine for leaving wooden planks sticking out of their car boot.

The 24-year-old driver from Mackay in Queensland was videoed driving along a straight road with a bundle of planks protruding from the back of the vehicle.

Footage of the car was obtained by Seven News and upon closer inspection a woman can be seen in the boot holding onto the planks so they don’t fall out.

Social media users were quick to comment on the video, either slamming the woman and the driver for their actions, or ‘remembering the old days’.

‘She wasn’t a passenger it said was a diy project is obviously a new kitchen and she come with it,’ one person wrote. 

‘Don’t need ratchet straps when you have a girlfriend,’ another wrote. 

‘Another great use for women. LOL,’ another user posted. 

‘People are getting dumb and dumber!’ one person slammed.
