Dublin restaurant that hosted Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Harry and Meghan looked ‘very happy’ as they dined on lamb and hake at a Dublin restaurant, the manager has revealed.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex enjoyed lunch at Delahunt, Camden Street on Wednesday as part of their Ireland visit, and staff reported the pair ‘were chatting the whole time’.

Manager Grace Davis told Vanity Fair the newlyweds made the booking ‘some time ago’ via Palace aides and pre-ordered their meals from the menu, which includes traditional dishes made from seasonal ingredients.

The eatery was closed to the public so that the couple could enjoy their meal – washed down with Irish coffee and Guinness – away from prying eyes, and they were seated in ‘the snug’, a cosy corner tucked away towards the rear of the venue.

The three-course menu normally costs €39 (£34.46) a head, but the couple did not have room for dessert, according to staff.

Restaurant workers said on social media it was ‘an honour’ to host the couple and claim Harry said he’d heard that they serve ‘the best food in Dublin’.

Davis told the publication: ‘They had the smoked salmon starter. Meghan had the hake for her main course; Harry had the lamb.

‘They had planned to have dessert too, but said they were too full by the end of their meal.

‘So they just had what we call our 3fe Dublin roasted coffee. They seemed to love it—it was empty plates all around. They even shared a half-pint of Guinness, and Harry had a Coke.
