Elle Macpherson what drinks stay healthy festive season

By the time Christmas rolls around, prioritising our health isn’t often at the forefront of people’s minds.

But for some, it’s part and parcel of the job. Just ask Elle Macpherson.

The Australian supermodel recently revealed exactly what she drinks to stay healthy during the festive season.

She also explained her simple trick, which allows her to avoid alcohol during parties, but still enjoy a delicious (non-alcoholic) drink.

Writing in her monthly Get the Gloss column, the 53-year-old said she finds herself ‘irritable and uncomfortable’ when she’s dehydrated so she ‘actively prevents’ it:

‘I used to wake up with a double espresso, but now I sip a hot water first thing, to gently boost my metabolism,’ she explained.

Elle follows this with a ‘daily dose’ of her wellness powder, The Super Elixir powder – which contains 45 bio-live nutrients to ‘support all eleven systems of the body’ – before she works out.

She also swears by her homemade turmeric tea - which is a blend of turmeric powder and hot water with a large coriander sprig on top

Drinks Elle Macpherson enjoys to stay healthy at Christmas

* Hot water first thing to boost metabolism.

* The Super Elixir powder with filtered water.

* Herbal teas.

* Homemade turmeric tea with turmeric powder, hot water and a sprig of coriander.

* Green vegetable juice.

* Double espresso.

* Chai latte if needed in the afternoon.

* Virgin cocktails such as a mock Mojito or elderflowder water in a champagne glass.

Throughout the day, the model said she’s a fan of filtered water, herbal teas and her own homemade turmeric tea:

‘[This] is a concoction of turmeric powder and hot water with a large coriander sprig on top,’ she explained.

Elle added that she has also managed to swap her double espresso habit for a ‘big green vegetable juice’:

‘Since juicing and taking The Super Elixir daily, my skin glows, brown spots have faded, the whites of my eyes are clear, and my tongue is no longer coated,’ she added.

While the model – as an Australian – is still partial to coffee, she said she’ll make sure she only has it in the morning – and always a double espresso – if she does have caffeine.

Later on in the day, she’ll sip on a chai latte if she wants a nourishing hot drink.

Finally, when it comes to alcohol, in order to stay in peak physical health, Elle explained that she steers clear of booze - and yes, even at parties

Finally, when it comes to alcohol, in order to stay in peak physical health, Elle explained that she steers clear of booze – and yes, even at parties:

‘At parties, I’m partial to a virgin cocktail, such as mock Mojito made of fresh lime, slices of ginger, soda, lots of ice and a little mint on top,’ she said.

Otherwise, she’ll mix up ginger ale or elderflower water in a champagne glass – a simple trick, which will allow you to enjoy a drink – and the feeling of a drink – without consuming actual alcohol.

Recently, Elle opened up about her secrets for career longevity, as she explained how the alkaline diet changed her life.

Since taking up a predominantly plant-based diet, the 53-year-old has swapped meat for grains and enjoys plenty of leafy greens.

She said she’s been left feeling more balanced than ever, full of renewed energy, with glowing skin, and with no cravings for sugar.
