Swimming star Emily Seebohm has failed to show up to training after announcing her split with Mitch Larkin, her boyfriend of two years.

The Olympic gold medallist didn’t arrive in Cairns with her team mates for practice on Saturday, having announced the split the previous day.

‘As always, it’s about the welfare of the athlete no matter what the situation,’ a swim team spokesman told Courier Mail.

‘It depends on how she is feeling,’ he added.

While the former Australian swimmer of the year failed to show up for training in Cairns this week, Larkin did arrive at the camp.
