The mother of the nanny in the midst of Mel B’s scandalous divorce is speaking out.
Lorraine Gilles’ mother, Angelika Gilles, 54, tells the Mirror that the former America’s Got Talent personality, 42, left Lorraine, 26, in terrible circumstances amid her messy divorce from Stephen Belafonte.
The Ascheberg, Germany native said she was ‘shocked’ about learning many of the more sordid allegations Mel B’s made (involving Lorraine) in the split – that Belafonte made the entertainer have threesomes with Lorraine, got Lorraine pregnant, and used Mel B’s money to pay for a subsequent abortion.

‘My husband [Volker] and I are shocked and in total disbelief,’ Angelika said. ‘Never in our wildest dreams would we have thought that Mel B is dragging our daughter into this lifestyle.
‘I was shocked when I found out about everything from our daughter after all these claims were published. They portrayed Lorraine in such a bad way as if it was her fault that this marriage fell apart.’
Angelika noted that Mel B was nearly twice Lorraine’s age – ‘Lorraine was 18 at the time and Mel was 35,’ she said – when she hired her to be the family nanny, and inconsiderate of the impact she would have on both the young German and her family back home.
‘I wonder what was going on in Mel B’s head,’ Angelika said, noting that she mistakenly believed her daughter ‘was in good hands’ when she went to work for the English beauty.

‘Did she ever think about us? How would we feel about this?’ Angelika asked. ‘Her own daughter is 18 now – would she want her to be in a position our daughter was in? Why is she exposing her kids to this whole drama?’
The ensuing publicity in the aftermath of Mel B’s split with Belafonte earlier this year complicated Lorraine’s life for the worse, her mother said.
Angelika said she’s ‘afraid that something is going to happen to’ Lorraine, who’s ‘received so many threats and hate mail that [she] can’t sleep at night,’ and doesn’t ‘have the privilege to live in a villa with security or a bodyguard like Mel B.

‘She is a simple girl who is trying to live a normal life in Los Angeles,’ Angelika said of Lorraine, who’s now married to a 32-year-old event manager named Michael Bleau.
Said Angelika: ‘We pray that soon the truth will come out, that this whole circus will come to an end and Lorraine and Mel B’s children don’t have to suffer any more.’
Lorraine is currently suing Mel B in connection with libel over the nature of the allegations she made regarding Belafonte’s infidelity with her.
