Facebook users around the world are having difficulties with the Messenger app today. Over the last few hours, many have reported that they are unable to send or receive pictures and messages. And, some can’t log on at all.

According to DownDetector, the problem is primarily with Messenger’s ability to connect to the server. Nearly half (45%) of users have reported this issue.

In addition, reports of problems logging in (30%) and receiving messages (20%) have been piling in this morning.

A live outage map shows European Messenger users have been worst affected by the issues this morning.

But, reports have also come in from the US East and West Coasts, parts of South America, northern Africa, Japan, the Philippines, and Australia.

As always, some frustrated users took to Twitter to complain about the outage.

Just before 11 a.m., one user tweeted: ‘I can not send a picture via Facebook Messenger.’

Another wrote: ‘I keep having this error code I can’t send pictures, files, or videos???’

A Facebook spokesperson told Dailymail.com that the firm is aware of the problems, and is currently working on a fix.

The problem, however, appears to have gotten worse in the last few hours, with reports coming in at a higher frequency by noon.
