Fashion brands are selling bizarre butt-exposing ripped jeans

Most people wears clothes so that they don’t walk around naked — but the newest crop of ripped jeans seem to be all about exposing the skin that people generally want to keep covered up.

Fast fashion brand Pretty Little Thing recently released ‘Bum Rip Skinny Jeans,’ which look like simple high-waisted pants in the front — but from the back they are something else entirely.

The jeans feature huge tears across the bottom of each cheek of the backside, leaving very little to the imagination. And perhaps most shockingly, they’re already sold out in most sizes.

Pretty Little Thing, the online fashion brand beloved by celebs like Kourtney Kardashian and little sister Kylie, is selling the jeans for just $38. They come in black and blue.

On the site, the jeans are described as having a ‘flattering high-waisted fit and distressed bum detail.’ But the bum is not just ‘distressed’: the slits are so large that both cheeks are quite literally hanging out of the back of the pants.

While butt rip jeans first started earning attention two years ago when stars like Kylie Jenner, 20, and Ariel Winter, 20, wore them, they are clearly still going strong.

The butt rip jeans comes on the heels of similarly revealing items from other online retailers, like Fashion Nova’s Wild Thang Lace Up Pants — which are completely cutout and only hold together by a piece of string.

Despite people mocking the string pants, Fashion Nova also debuted the Wild One Lace Up Shorts, which are similar to the jeans but instead are high-waisted shorts that resemble underwear.

Although the string pants were mocked for showing a lot of skin, it was LA denim brand Carmar that caught the most slack for the Extreme Cut Out Pants, which have the outline of jeans by using just the seams on the sides, without any fabric on the front or back.

What makes the pants even more bizarre is the fact that the backside features a thong bottom.

Carmar Denim debuted the new Extreme Cut Out Pants, which are being sold for $168, with barely any other fabric except for a waistband and pockets — but there’s already a waitlist for them, as they sold out almost immediately.

People are seriously confused as to why they’re being sold if there’s basically no fabric on them, and they’re taking to Twitter to vent about the new style.

After posting the photo, the official LF Instagram account was flooded with comments from people bashing the pants and the expensive price.

‘Wow! What’s the point of wearing pants?’ one person questioned, while another exclaimed: ‘I would never pay money for jeans like this!’

Another person wrote, ‘At least they have pockets!’ to which someone replied, ‘If only those pockets included jeans.’

‘Airport security inspections should be super easy,’ one comment read, while someone else suggested: ‘Change title to – “Bum looking for rich man.”‘

‘Just picking up the scraps from the denim factories and selling them for one hundred times their original worth. Gotta pair these with Kanye’s line to get the full “apocalypse survivor” look. Smh,’ a very frustrated user wrote.

‘This is the most embarrassing “clothing item” I’ve ever seen. How desperate does one have to be to wear something like that?’ a very disgruntled person wrote.

‘Pay more for less, in the name of fashion. I’m sure there are idiots out there that will pay for these lol,’ someone else wrote.
