FEMAIL takes a look at high and low end Christmas trees

Christmas is the season to go big or go home with your food, your decorations and most importantly, your Christmas tree.

During this time of year Australian chain stores have a variety of fake pines for people to purchase, each ranging in price.

FEMAIL has compared both low-end and high-end Christmas trees to see if you can tell the difference and whether money really does mean better quality.

KMART

Kmart wants to help add glitter and excitement to people’s homes with their range of eight life-sized trees, all of which can be bought in store.

Their cheapest tree stands at 1.82 centimetres and is an affordable AUD $20.

This tree, although extremely budget-friendly, doesn’t have many branches, as it has 497 tips. This is compared to the most expensive tree which looks noticeably more full with 700.

Their most expensive tree stands at the same height, is pre-lit and retails for AUD $89.

‘Put up our pre-lit Christmas tree to fill your home with warm light that will perfectly capture that Christmas vibe,’ the website reads.

Although it is $69 more expensive it is noticeably fuller than the cheaper alternative.

TARGET

Another company spreading the Christmas joy is Target, who have seven large trees to choose from.

Their cheapest is the Target Minnesota Pine Tree 183cm which retails for slightly less than the Kmart option as it costs a mere AUD $14.

Their most expensive tree – Target Frosty Pine Christmas Tree – helps create the white Christmas vibe when it will be stinking hot and the middle of Summer.

This tree stands at the same height as the cheaper one and has the same amount of branches wrapped on the pole for easy assembly, 411 tips to be exact.

This being said, the tips are more full on the AUD $59 tree and comparatively looks more realistic.

David Jones is one of the more high-end alternatives when it comes to tree buying.

Although they have tabletop trees you can purchase, like the other retailers, their cheapest tree outside of that is their dark green Aspen Tree.

The foliage rich tree stands at 152 centimetres, costs AUD $179 and has had several five star reviews online.

MYER

The Australian retailer sells eight trees for the festive season, much like the other stores.

Myer’s cheapest tree is the Slim Yorkville Pine Tree which stands at a whopping 210cm and although it was once AUD $229.00 it now retails for AUD $137.40.

The slim size of this tree means that it’s ideal for compact spaces as the beauty is in its height and unique shape rather than its diameter.
