Fight breaks out among young Tories at Westminster bar

An American student studying at a London university has told of the moment she feared she would be glassed by another female student at a meeting of young Tories following an online spat over politics.

Police were called to the Walkers of Whitehall pub on Thursday night following a scuffle at a drinks meeting for young Tories at a bar in Westminster.

Stunned witnesses watched on as one of the women allegedly walked up to the other and tapped her on the shoulder before pouring a glass of wine over her head.

The pair had to be dragged apart after fighting and scratching each other.

It is understood the feud erupted following online political arguments between the pair.

The two 20-year-olds were among around 100 young Tories at the event.

The alleged victim, an international student studying in London, told MailOnline: ‘I’ve not escaped the shock of it all.  I’m glad nothing worse happened.

‘A few people said they thought she had glassed me at first and that’s what I thought she was going to do.

‘I was chatting with a friend when I heard her say my name. When I turned around I saw the glass coming towards my head.

‘I thought, “oh my God she’s smashing a glass into my head”. I’m just glad she didn’t glass me.’

The alleged victim was left with bruising and scratches on her chest.

Marina Muttik called the police following the incident.

‘There was then a scuffle. One of the girls was left with minor injuries, bruising and scratching.

‘I got involved to break them up, then bar staff came over. I called the police and they spoke to them but I’m unsure what the outcome was.’

A Met Police spokesman confirmed they had been called to the pub.
