Fit mom is blasted for filming workout video in Target

A mom who demonstrated fitness moves while shopping at Target is being shamed by trolls online for ‘obstructing the aisle.’

Fit mom Sia Cooper of Destin, Florida, has gained more than 630,000 followers on Instagram for her work out tips and healthy meal suggestions, but one of her recent videos has drawn the ire of some angry Target shoppers.

The video, posted earlier this month, sees 28-year-old Sia doing lunges as she pushes her daughter in a shopping cart or stopping in the aisle to perform a few squats or leg lifts.

‘Getting it done in @Target because it’s only the most magic place in the entire world (besides Disney world). So if you saw a weirdo working out in Target today-yup that was me! Who needs a friggin’ gym,’ Sia wrote in the caption.

Talking to Daily Mail Online, Sia says she decided to make the video ‘when my husband and I were shopping early one Saturday morning.

‘The store was literally dead and the idea popped into my head how most moms do spend their time shopping at Target, Walmart, etc with their kids,’ she adds. ‘I wanted to show a way to kill two birds with one stone and how a busy Mom could sneak a quick sweat in!’

The moves themselves are nothing that Sia wouldn’t be doing at home, as she often focuses on body weight exercises that require little to no equipment.

However, when the video was picked up by Self and posted to their page, the trolls came out in force.

‘This is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever seen!! Target is a sacred place of awesomeness!! Don’t make me feel bad for roaming the aisles while snacking on cheese doodles!!’ raged one user.

‘Seriously as if any woman would actually do that,’ read one comment, while another said: ‘Go to your house to work out. You are obstructing the aisle.’

One cruel commenter even branded Sia ‘a lunatic’ simply for offering creative workout advice.

But for Sia, who is mom to Greyson, three, and Everly, 17 months, it’s all nothing new.

One to another: Sia also regularly posts about body positivity, but is still often the target of trolls, who 'took a fun and lighthearted video and trashed it like they always do'

‘I’m not surprised that my workout has bothered so many people,’ she says. ‘They took a fun and lighthearted video and trashed it like they always do.’

She adds: ‘Many moms thanked me for it as it’s given them ideas outside of the box and that’s all that matters to me! But those who couldn’t personally see themselves doing it just wanted to judge and mock it.

‘Nope it’s not the traditional workout in the traditional setting, but busy moms need to multitask and get it in where they can.’

As for the trolls, Sia believes that they must have ‘some issue deep within themselves’ in order to ‘hide behind a keyboard and spew such hateful comments.’

‘Whatever happened to if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say it at all?’
