Five killers tied a nab up, urinated on him and posed for pictures during his final hours of life.

Alberts Volkausks from Boston, Lincolnshire, died aged 44 of injuries inflicted in a ‘deplorable’ attack.

Today the gang responsible for his death were jailed at Nottingham Crown Court after they gagged their victim and beat him ‘within an inch of his life’.

One of the men placed his foot on his victim’s broken chest while another of the group took a picture on a mobile phone.

Following the brutal assault on September 24, police found Mr Volkausks at an address in Boston with serious injuries. He died in hospital.

Three of his attackers were convicted of murder, with two being found guilty of manslaughter after they posed for pictures like their victim was a trophy.

David Herbert QC had previously told the trial: ‘Alberts Volkausks was lured to the address where he was essentially beaten to within an inch of his life in a sustained group attack.

‘He was tied up, he was gagged, he was urinated on and essentially left for dead while some of the defendants spoke of how they would dispose of his body.’

‘One posed with a foot on their battered victim’s broken chest, as if he were a trophy, while the other took a photograph with his smartphone.’

Lincolnshire Police said in a statement: ‘He was subject to a prolonged assault, during which the guilty men adopted a pack mentality. Although he initially survived, he died within 24 hours of the ordeal.’

Mindaugas Cerneckas, 30, Donatos Dektiariovas, 37, and Andrius Barauskas, 39, all from Boston, were jailed for life with a minimum of 20 years after being found guilty of murder.

Pavel Grunt-Meyer, 30, of Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, was sentenced to 14 years’ imprisonment after being found guilty of manslaughter. Tawtvydas Vainolavicius, 20, of Boston, was sentenced to 12 years after also being found guilty of manslaughter.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Karl Whiffen said the crimes of the five men were ‘simply deplorable’.

‘What has become clear throughout this trial is that these men are dangerous and displayed a level of violence that thankfully is incredibly rare,’ he said.
