Police are investigating after the body of a home invasion suspect was dumped in front of a Florida hospital.

Police think the man who abandoned 32-year-old Shawn Michael King of Florida may be connected to the crime.

King entered the home of Shawn Paul Peterson, 35, on Monday night where Peterson, his girlfriend and his dog were staying.

Police were called to the home in Sunset Harbor area and once they arrived were notified by Peterson that someone had entered his home with a gun and injured his dog, according to the Click Orlando.

Peterson said he heard gunshots and footsteps inside his home and saw a shadow coming toward his bedroom so he locked the door, according to the Ocala Star Banner.

He then heard a gunshot, which did not hit anyone, fired from outside the door and into his bedroom.

King continued to bang on the bedroom door as Peterson’s girlfriend hid in the closet and eventually tossed Peterson his gun.

Peterson then shot at the door causing one of the bullets to hit King.

King then ran from the home and was later dropped off at Ocala Health Summerfield ER by an unknown person.

King died shortly after he was left in front of the hospital from a gunshot to what Peterson thinks to the chest.

‘I never killed anyone in my life. It hasn’t hit me as yet,’ Peterson told the Ocala Star Banner.

He was released from prison in March 2011, according to the Ocala Star Banner.
