A 30-year-old Florida man was arrested after he allegedly tied up a teenage girl he met online with a rope and dog leash, cut off her underwear before raping her multiple times.
Travis Burton was charged with sexual battery on a 16-year-old girl, kidnapping, burglary, aggravated child abuse and soliciting for prostitution, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office.
The girl arrived at a home in the Davenport area Saturday morning where Burton was waiting.
He punched the girl in the face before he bound her with tape, cut off her underwear and raped her four times, police say.

Burton was charged with sexual battery on a 16-year-old girl, kidnapping, burglary, aggravated child abuse and soliciting for prostitution, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office
The teen said Burton then put a knife to her throat and attached a dog leash to her neck, according to the affidavit.
The 30-year-old man then put her in a truck that eventually got stuck in an orange grove, police say.

Deputies found the girl in the truck, but he ran off and was eventually arrested.
“I’m not convinced at all that we weren’t going to have a murder had it not been for our deputies,” Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd told WFLA.
“It’s just by the grace of God she’s not dead right now.”
Once apprehended, Burton allegedly told deputies that he met the teen online and offered to pay her $300 for sex.
Burton said they had a disagreement over the money and it ‘got a little rough,’ according to the sheriff’s office.
He is currently being held in jail for at least 179 days after a judge charged him with being contempt of court on Sunday, police say.

Authorities also arrested Ramirez and charged him for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
He told deputies that the teen asked him for a ride to a friend’s house where she was going to smoke marijuana, WFLA reported.
Ramirez said he dropped her off and left before he received a call from her asking for help.
Authorities say that Burton has an extensive criminal history, including 25 previous felonies, 12 previous misdemeanors, and a prison sentence.
His previous charges include: burglary, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery, vehicle theft, resisting, fleeing to elude, giving false ID to law enforcement, cannabis and meth possessions, violating probation, battery on law enforcement, larceny, aggravated stalking, battery on a person 65 or older, grand theft and possession of a weapon by a felon.
