A Florida substitute teacher has been charged with third-degree felony mischief after she smeared human fecal matter across a pavilion where a young student’s birthday party was being held.

Heather Carpenter, 42, who was hired in October 2017 as a substitute teacher at Phillippi Shores Elementary in Sarasota, admitted to the disturbing December 1 act that took place at Urfer Park.

Law enforcement officials learned about the incident after a witness called police early that morning.

The birthday party was scheduled for later that day.

The witness saw Carpenter wearing rubber gloves and a face mask at the time she smeared fecal matter across seven picnic tables and two grills.

Her reasoning was to settle a score with Phillippi Shores Elementary Principal Allison Foster, who was hosting the party for her daughter.

Foster had invited all of the students in her daughter’s class, including Carpenter’s child.
