Fox Sports fires Pete Rose over sex with minor in 1970s

Pete Rose has been fired from Fox Sports over allegations he had sex with an underage girl in the 1970s.

The former Cincinnati Reds star has not been asked back to the network for its postseason baseball telecasts this fall, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The claim is part of a defamation suit Rose, 76, filed last year against attorney John Dowd.

Dowd was part of the investigation that led to Rose’s lifetime ban from the sport in 1989 for betting on games featuring the Cincinnati Reds when he was the team’s manager.

The three-time World Series champion admitted to having sex with the woman but said in court documents he believed she was 16 during their relationship.

In 1973, Rose turned 32 in April and was married with two children. The statute of limitations means that Rose will not face criminal jeopardy.
