Georgia Jones shares picture of her engorged boob

The wife of McFly star Danny Jones posted a snap of her ‘hot, red, rock hard’ and ‘painful’ swollen breast on Instagram after giving birth to the couple’s baby boy.

Georgia Jones, 31, shared the picture of her ‘engorged boob’ with fans along with her advice for fellow mothers going through the same thing – suggesting they take a hot shower and massage the breast to get their milk flowing.

But many of Georgia’s fans replied to warn her she could have mastitis – an inflammation of the breast that can often afflict nursing mothers and requires medical treatment – and urging her to visit her GP.

The model gave birth to her first child with the McFly singer – a boy named Cooper Alf Jones – just under three weeks ago, and has been very open about adjusting to her new life as a mother.

She captioned the post: ‘NO! This isn’t a sexy Valentines Day selfie!!! This is me and my engorged boob…. it’s hot, red, rock hard and pretty painful!!

‘So full with milk it feels like it’s going to pop!! But this is sooooo incredibly common [sic].’

WHAT IS MASTITIS?

According to the Australian Breastfeeding Association, Mastitis can occur when a milk duct in the breast becomes blocked.

This leads to milk banking up and the surrounding tissue becoming inflamed, with initial signs including flu-like symptoms, aches and sore breasts with red marks.

Treatment of antibiotics and plenty of rest is recommended as soon as the illness is detected.

She told her followers she’d found the best way to deal with the pain is to have a hot shower and massage the breast.

Georgia went on: ‘It’s not pleasant, but trust me it really helps get that milk flowing & eases the pressure!’

But her followers urged her to seek medical advice in addition to using home remedies.

One commented: ‘Does look like you could be getting mastitis so go to doctor if no better in morning or overnight if flu like.’

‘I’m a midwife and the hot red patch looks like mastitis to me. Get it looked at by your midwife or GP because if it is it’ll need treatment!’ another commented.

A third said: ‘Please see GP – from the picture and description I think this looks more like mastitis than a blocked duct.’

A representative for Georgia told Femail the star had visited the doctor and been reassured it was not mastitis.

Since giving birth to baby Cooper at the end of January, Georgia has been honest about her new life as a mum.

She shared an inspiring photo showing the reality of her post-baby body, candidly detailing the many intimate side-effects of giving birth.

Taken just hours after she delivered her firstborn, Georgia looked amazing as she stripped down to just a pair of black knickers for the intimate photo taken in hospital, while revealing in the caption how proud she is of her post-baby body.

The refreshingly honest post read: ‘This was me a few hours after baby Cooper was born…. Greasy Hair, prickly legs, very sore bits, big pants & one very empty wobbly tum….

‘But I wouldn’t change a thing. Do I miss my pre-pregnancy bod?… Abso-blummin-lutely (& that’s fine) Will I try my hardest *when fully recovered & ready* to get said body back??? Hell Yes! (which is also totally fine)’

‘But do u know what… if things are never quite the same again then I’m cool with that, My body pushed that little person out!! Well done body, I’m super proud of you.’
