Georgie Gardner cuts a relaxed figure on family day out

She abruptly quit The Today show back in 2014, so that she could raise her young family.

And Georgie Gardner, 47, has been spending maximum quality time with her husband and two children, one week after it was announced she would be rejoining the Channel Nine breakfast program.

The 47-year-old was snapped enjoying a leisurely stroll in Sydney last week with her investment banker husband Tim Baker and their daughter Bronte, 12, and son Angus, 10.

Sporting loose black pants paired with a pink T-shirt and sneakers, the veteran TV personality appeared content and relaxed as she walked hand-in-hand with the father-of-two.

Tim also opted for a casual look, pairing khaki shorts with a blue T-shirt with matching sneakers.

The couple’s two children, along with a four-legged friend, followed closely behind as the group strolled through a local park.

Perth-born Georgie, who has been open about her difficult childhood, previously spoke about the importance of teaching her children the importance of humility.

‘I want them to grow up with the knowledge of how lucky they are and respect the fact that not everyone has the same advantages,’ she told Australian Women’s Weekly in 2013.

‘I think that is a really important message… Every year for the past few years, we have taken the children along to Operation Santa at the Target Christmas tree in our local store.

She added: ‘We sit down with Bronte and Angus, and talk about it before we go. I try to get them to think about what another child might like for Christmas. I give them $50 each and they get to choose a present and put it under the tree.’

Last week it was revealed that Georgie would replace Lisa Wilkinson on Today, following her sudden departure over an equal pay row.

In 2014, Georgie also quit the show but for a different reason.

‘It has not been an easy decision to leave a show that is an Australian television institution,’ she said in a statement.

‘Today is a program that has afforded me enormous opportunities and experiences and enabled me to forge lifelong friendships. It’s been a career highlight and a great privilege.

She added: ‘The early hours are punishing and after seven years it’s time for me to catch up on some sleep. ‘After unwavering support from Tim and my kids I want to give back to them. I figure I have limited time of Bronte and Angus wanting and needing their mother around, so I want to maximise and cherish these precious years.’

It was recently claimed that her salary would be ‘approaching the $1 million mark,’ and last week she revealed she would not be discussing the matter.

Calling it ‘crass’ and ‘unhelpful’, Georgie did however confirm that she was happy with the result of negotiation.

‘I’m of the belief that discussing people’s pay and contracts is crass and unhelpful,’ she told the Sunday Telegraph.

‘I just don’t think it helps anyone. I reached an agreement with Nine that we both deemed fair and I’m very happy and I’m very appreciative.’

‘I have a contract that has stamped confidential on the front and that is the way I’d like to keep it,’ she continued.

And while Georgie continues to keep her lips sealed on her remuneration package, on Thursday, the Daily Telegraph reported her paycheck would be ‘approaching the $1 million mark’.

The news comes as her predecessor Lisa Wilkinson allegedly walked away from the top job over an equal pay dispute with co-host Karl Stefanovic who’s set to be taking home at least $2 million.

According to The Australian, Georgie is currently sitting on $500,000 with their source reporting her increase was only $250,000, bumping her up to $750,000.
